On the heels of @natheeravs debut show at @vanfashionweek, let’s keep her momentum going! 2 weeks prior to the show I directed a photoshoot to immortalize her collection. We had the insane privilege of shooting the garments in the @canadianmemorialunitedchurch, a neo-gothic cathedral. On April 10th my incredibly talented friend @natheerav asked me to assist her team at @vanfashionweek where she showed her first collection as a featured designer. Runway shows are sometimes only 8 min long, but getting there starts at 9am and doesn’t stop all day. They embody the whole point of why I am drawn to this work. They express a type of beauty we’re often uncomfortable to discuss in the fashion industry. This was a dream project inspired by one of my favourite artists, @michaelastark. Her activism and inclusive artwork single-handedly changed my view of what “inclusive” means. Equal parts beautiful, ethereal, and warped, our team created our version of a Michaela Stark image. These were just SOME of the models hair I did for a recent runway show. I was too busy to get reels of the rest 😵‍💫 14 updos in 4 hours is a new record for me! I’ll never forget it! But weirdly it was some of my cleanest work. I guess what I needed was…pressure? 🤨🤪
